FAQs

What exactly is in your candles?

All of our candles are made with 100% soy wax, created from a renewable source. We then blend this with our premium fragrance oil (which has been rigorously tested by our supplier and complies with strict IFRA and RIFM standards). We do not add any chemicals or preservatives in our products.

We use the same high quality fragrance oil in our diffusers, hand stirred with our specially chosen base which is non-toxic, from a renewable source and has a low carbon footprint. We add nothing else.

How ‘fresh’ is my candle?

Our candles are made to order. As such we recommend you leaving the candle 1-2 weeks before its first burn to allow the fragrances and scent throw to fully develop (technically called the ‘cure’ period).

Does my candle/diffuser have a ‘Use By’ date?

We recommend using your products within 1 year of purchase to ensure you get the best scent throw out of them. After 12 months the scent may begin to weaken. Also, as we use soy wax, which is an organic, natural product, it may start to deteriorate after 12 months.

Do you offer any discounts or a loyalty scheme?

We believe in the relationships we create with our customers and clients, and want to keep connected to you. We have worked hard to bring you the highest quality product, at the best value. Our vision is to create a loyalty scheme for our most valued customers and we are looking into how we can do this. We will provide updates as soon as we can.

Why soy wax?

Soy wax is a non-toxic natural product, made from a renewable source. It does not release any harmful toxins when burnt (paraffin wax is derived from petroleum). This is important to us.

Soy wax also has the added benefit of burning slower than paraffin wax,
giving you a longer lasting candle.

Where are your products made?

Our candles are made to order with love and care in our workshops. One in the beautiful south of France, and our second is close to the historic City of Cambridge.

Does Soy expire?

Soy wax is a natural product, it is a vegetable wax. As such, on occasion, the wax may appear, at times, to ‘sweat’ or have a frosting effect. This does not affect the burn quality of the candle.

What’s a burn pool?

The burn pool (or melt pool) is when the melted wax reaches the container walls (in our case, the glass jar walls). This takes roughly 1-2 hours dependent on the size of your candle. We recommend you burn your candle until this happens, to ensure an even burn and scent throw, and to avoid wax building up on the walls of the jar.

Why shouldn’t I light the candle for more than 4 hours?

As your candle burns, your wick is using the liquid wax as fuel. If burnt for too long, your wick may begin to produce excess soot or smoke, which can cause an unpleasant odour, and stain the glass jar. Also, the charred end of the wick is at risk of falling into your melted wax, causing the same unpleasant odour to be present on subsequent burns. We strongly recommend you trim the wick before each use, to prevent this occurring.
